Dr. Stan Gregory, Potential Responses of Native and Non-native Fish Communities to Thermal Changes in the Willamette River. Dr. Stan Gregory will report on his team’s extensive sampling of fish communities in the Willamette River mainstem and adjacent sloughs during summers 2011-2013. The talk will address questions such as:
• How does the distribution of native and non-native fish species vary along the length of the river and between the mainstem and side channel habitats and why?
• How may species and life stages of native and non-native fish communities with habitat characteristics such as stream temperature?
• What might happen to salmonid populations if stream temperatures warm with climate change?
• How can the public and river managers access the 2011-2013 fisheries data along with other information about channel characteristics, the surrounding floodplain landscape, and other historical fish sampling data?
