Dr. Peter Walter is currently a Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at UCSF and an HHMI Investigator. He is most well known for his work on the Unfolded Protein Response.
For his public lecture, "A Matter of Balance: How Our Cells Cope with Stress," was a delightful mix of stories about how science works and philosophy of science and fascinating biology/biochemistry, and ended with a lively Q&A.
