Oregon State won this game by a score of 3-0. Led by star running back OJ Simpson, undefeated USC entered the match-up ranked number one in the country. The OSU "Giant Killers" team added this win to a victory over #2 Purdue earlier in the season as well as a tie versus UCLA, who was also ranked second in the country. The Beavers completed the year with a season record of 7-2-1. Meanwhile, USC finished the year with just this one loss, beat Indiana in the Rose Bowl, and were ranked #1 in both the final AP and Coaches polls.
