In this talk, former Oregon State University wrestling star Les Gutches shares his thoughts on achieving greatness and discusses his memories of competing as an Olympian and winning a wrestling world championship. The talk, which was given to a student athlete leadership group, was introduced by past OSU wrestling coach Joe Wells and delivered in the Reser Stadium club section.
A native of Medford, Oregon, Les Gutches compiled a career record of 134-10 during his four wrestling career at OSU. He won back to back national titles in 1995 and 1996, going undefeated in both years. He competed for the U.S. in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Olympics and, in 1997, won the gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the World Championships tournament.
